ViewsBrendhan SearsFrom Young Composers
Brendhan Sears is a new composer. Previously an active performer both instrumentally and vocally, those things have taken a back seat due to a career shift. Now working afternoons in a busy 911 Communications center, Brendhan still has plenty of free time, just not at the right time. As a result, he has focused his musical creativity on composing. He completed his first piece titled Resolve for full band, and will be submitting it to Neil A. Kjos for publication in early July 2008. This particular piece represents struggle; rather, our perseverance through struggle that, through a firm resolve, lead us to our own personal victories. It begins with a somewhat dreary theme in c minor presented by a full horn section and ends with a rousing conclusion in Eb Major.
Currently, Sears performs with Gideon's Army, a gospel choir also out of Chicago. He teaches brass privately at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts in Waukegan, IL and is "on call" with the City of Waukegan, IL to perform the National Anthem for special events. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha's Xi Kappa Chapter from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.
