J. Stuart Brown

Biography

James Stuart Brown is a rising composer from Irmo, South Carolina. Currently at age 17, he has experimented with composition since age 13, but did not seriously dedicate himself to composition until close to his 17th birthday.

Stuart started his musical career on the trombone at age 11, entering his middle school's band program. At age 14 he picked up piano, and at age 15, the cello followed by the double bass. Although proficient in all of them, he is best at the trombone.

Around age 14 he started to teach himself music theory, and has been teaching himself since.


Works All of the following are works in progress.

Loss- A romantic trombone solo with piano accompaniment.

Spanish Dances- A full orchestral piece focusing on Spanish rhythms mixed with middle eastern modes.

Dreaming in the Sky- An impressionistic piano solo.

The Lovely Dove- An impressionistic flute solo.
