Life

John Preston Dennis is a composer from Tennessee. He is currently serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Portland, Oregon area. He started composing music in 2003 and has become more and more interested in it. He has entered several competitions and has been awarded the following honors:


1) Accepted and attended the 2006 Brevard Music Center music festival and institute. (Brevard, NC)

2) Finalist for the 2006 Young Composers Challenge put on by the Orlando Philharmonic Symphony Youth Orchestra.

3) 1st place award for the performance of one of his piano compositions at the 2006 RSCC Academic Festival. (Harriman, TN)

4) 2nd place award for the performance of one of his piano compositions at the 2005 RSCC Academic Festival. (Harriman, TN)

5) 1st place for his Christmas piece in a Young Composers Forum competition.
