GeneralHe is half asian, chinese mother and polish father. He is to graduate from High School in the spring of 2008; his current high school is Enskilda Gymnasiet. There he is studying the nature programme. Matthew has not decided what to study after his high school graduation, and has therefore decided to work a year in several printing factories with his relatives in Malaysia. He is hoping that it will give him vital experience in the industrial field of work because he is certain that he will either take an Enviromental Degree with focus on Business or simply Industrial Economy. He wanted to study music at a conservatoire but was neglected by his parents - they are very demanding. He is planning to enter Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (in english Royal Institute of Technology) or Lunds Universitet (in english University of Lund). He and his parents are considering to take one of the two degrees in any good university in Great Britain. It is not a known fact to many people that Matthew is in fact a rather shy person, it takes time for him to be comfortable with new faces - once he is, crazy and completely random are the words that describe him best. With an asian upbringing, respect has been something he learnt to show early in his life. He is therefore by nature a polite person, with the exception when he is among friends.
Short BiographyMatthew Sai Ming Sikorski has always been artistic in his nature - always loved to create things. His father Michal Sikorski, a freelance photographer, certainly made a huge impact on Matthew's life - aesthetically. In the early stages of his life, it was noticed that Matthew was musically gifted. He started playing the piano, but after a few years the pressure on his performance was too great to withstand - he went berserk. For a few months he did not touch the piano, it took a few more months until he finally began playing again; this time without any pressure from neither his parents nor teacher. It should be commented that Matthew always needed to re-arrange each piece he encountered, there was always something that did not suit him. This was an early stage to his compositional interest, it later evolved into creating simple melodies and a harmony with it. Year 2006 Matthew joined Young Composers, it was a new era for him. He was no longer in the dark, he made friends to other fellow composers and started to discuss music with them, alongside with absorbing as much music theory he could manage.
HobbiesMatthew and his family have always loved to travel, they have been to all countries in Europe and North America as well as been on all the continents. The reason behind all the travels is his father. Each summer for a period of one month, sometimes more, the Sikorski family travel the world, this is mostly for Matthew's father to get berserk with the camera and get as much as possible under his lens. All these travels have given Matthew a lot of perspective and knowledge about different issues, as well as giving him a richer life and undoubtedly a broader general knowledge. Apart from traveling, Matthew enjoys watching movies. He and his friends started a reviewing homepage; Ciné a swedish reviewing homepage which has gotten itself quite a name. Matthew has mainly been a brainstormer and spell-checker for the homepage but he is planning to start reviewing more seriously after his graduation. It is obvious that Matthew has composition has a hobby, he writes when time allows otherwise he just converses with the pleasant members of YC. CompositionSince Matthew is a shy person, he rarely submits his works. It is not because he finds his work good, more the contrary - he has no greater confidence in his pieces and therefore dislikes to show them 'just like that.' He does regularly send his pieces to friends for their opinions, he is hoping to get rid of the annoying idiosyncrasy. His influences are (in no particular order):
