A good composition "will" have "balance" in tone, themes, dynamics, articulations, etc.
A "great" composer "will" have a "balance" of education and instruction with natural, intuitive, and creative passion for orchestral expression.

You were fine. I totally agree with that. I really hate it when people pretty much just rely on theory to create their pieces. Whenever I hear a piece composed that way, I don't really like it.
