yeah, maybe the fact that part of my portfolio had a recording of me at the piano performing one of my pieces on national radio (Radio Canada) might have swayed the jury in my case as well.

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.
