A Stroll in the Dales

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum. I see that you have some excellent people here with quite a lot to say about composition! Good for me then, because I need it badly...

And this is my very first (successful?) composition. Numero uno. I started out by discovering Sibelius and trying to understand it. Got into it in a big way and decided to have a crack at composing something interesting. A vague idea to make something for two violins turned out to be a good start but an awful screeching racket because I really hate those violin sounds that Sibelius and my computer make. The only sounds that I liked were flute and piano and so I composed the piece entirely on three piano staves thinking I might be able to arrange it later...

I came up with a simple melodic idea on guitar and then followed its logic, which was interesting! I really don't think it can ever be a violin piece now because it exceeds its range here and there...

And it can't be played on a single piano either!

So, is it alright? And can it be arranged for strings, or should it?

Anyways, be gentle
