M_is_D,
Good! I'm really glad you enjoyed it -- I was really going for that ethereal sound (especially in the opening and the development). As you said, my solo violin writing is, sadly, sub-par in many places. I'm much more used to writing for violins (and all strings, for that matter) in larger ensemble settings, so when I had to take it all on it's own it wasn't as "violinistic" as I'd hoped. You also should've seen this thing before I edited it! There were many more fourths in the beginning... basically I found out that violinists tend to dislike when you do that!
And yea, he didn't do too well, but it was good enough for me (in the sense that I've only had a handful of pieces, and if it takes a crappy performance to get more of them, I'll take em!)... but as I said it made the piece appeal to another violinist (performance major) and we'll be doing this piece on her Senior Recital this fall. I'm also including this piece (with the same violinist) on my own senior recital on June 8th. We're going to rehearse a lot more, of course... I'll see if I can get a recording of that, though, and hopefully it'll be much cleaner

- and yes, I'm the pianist - and am one in general

.
Maaton - I agree that the performance struggled a good deal (mainly due to the tuning and intonation of the violinist). But, as I said before, we're going to be rehearsing it several times again in the next couple weeks, so I'll see to it that he stays in tune!
