what made you choose such a heteroclite ensemble? it's not the easiest grouping to balance, and not combinations of sound that blend particularly well.
As I said, classical music isn't really my thing so I just took instruments that I thought sounded cool together.

But now when you mention it.
How do you get two oboes to play in unison? Shoot one.

Do you have any suggestions on which instruments (with similar ranges) that could replace the ones that aren't good?

I guess I could reduce the timpani, but I wanted the heavy beat as it will be a vital theme later on.
