I remember the very first time I heard this, it was a music history class, I was 17 or so, and the teacher had just told us that Bach died before he could finish this piece...

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.
