OK. Well, last night I finished the Fantasia that I've been working on for about a month. I had a pretty big brain block for a while, but I finally overcame it and finished up the Fantasia. In this piece I did something that I've never done before (though it is quite common); I began in Db Major, and ended in C# minor. The Climax of the piece really occurs in the C# minor section just before the end, and the piece ends with a pretty angry tone, almost completely the opposite of how the piece begins.

The beginning of the piece focuses around a main reocurring theme that is elaborated on a few different ways throughout the piece (the last being the main theme stated in C# minor).

One thing that I experimented with in this piece was modulation. At the bottom of the 2nd page, and a good deal of the 3rd page, I really tried new modulation techniques that I had never used before... some of them I found to be quite effective.

Around 3:00 into the piece, Finale decided to go weird on me and always slow down for some odd reason (I tried several times to fix this, no luck). Anyway, the important thing is, I sat down and learned this today, so I'll try and record it tommorow... definitely will have a recording of me playing it by Sunday night...

I attached the score (PDF) and a recording of the file as an mp3.

Comments/Critiques are encouraged and appreciated!!!!

Enjoy!
