Complements:
I really liked the beginning. You stated the theme right away, and it's a very pretty theme indeed. I liked how you used idiomatic musical language (if that makes any sense) to give the listener a feeling of familiarity, but it never felt derrivative to me. I really enjoyed this piece, every time I've listened to it (4 times, so far!). I really like the quieter parts and the gentleness the piece had at times. I wouldn't call it sad so much as slightly melancholy and really rather hopeful most of the time.
Critique:
I wish a bit more of the melody line could have utelized the middle part of the piano's range. Perhaps it's just the computer, but the high range of the piano can begin to feel a little harsh, and I think the lower notes would lend a little more warmth to the quieter parts of the song. I really liked them as they are, as I said, but on repeted listenings they began to grow a little harsh. On the other hand, when you started to use the middle of the piano, it was extremely effective, so perhaps I'm wrong.
I agree with the previous reviewer who said that it begged for strings. I agree! Anyway, I really enjoyed this piece. Thank you!
