no like string quartets as in 2 violins, viola, and cello, 4 movements.

I don't think you can call them string quartets. You can call it say: "Inspiration FOR string quartet"

But a string quartet, the actual format is in symphonic form and has 4 movements.

Again, I will listen...I'm at school now though ....

later,

Nico

Well, Not exactly. A quartet is simply writing for four instruments. A string quartet is writing for four string instruments. Most early composers did use movements but it isn't a requirement. It is a string quartet, just like a string trio is three instruments.

Altough there is a secondary definition. It is a composition for such groups of instruments. If using the 2nd def, then you will probably be talking about movements. However, again, a string quartet is simply 4 string instruments.

Beethoven's late quartets, minus the last one, never stick to 4 movements. Although having multiple movements is the custom, you can call what you did here a quartet.

Anyway, the music: although it isn't my style of music, I congratulate you on taking the initiative to see your ideas through. For that I give you my humblest congratulations!

Cheers on a job well done.
