whatever instrument you choose it would be wise to select an instrument that is common enough to allow for at least occassional performances.
a tenor trombone might be a good choice.

forget the wagner tuba, unless you actually know someone who owns one. it's just not a common enough instrument.

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.
