Occasionally I'll start playing something in Sibelius, then go to another program while the sound should keep playing, but it stops, and then the sound doesn't work. I just restart the program and it works fine after that. As far as the Kontakt player being stupid, you should check in the sibelius Mixer that you have assigned the instruments A. to use the Kontakt player instead of MIDI, and B. you have assigned them the correct Kontakt instruments (you cannot simply assume the program will do this by itself, it's not that smart).
