I've been writing music for umm... a couple weeks, I guess. At least, that's when I downloaded NotePad (because it was free). Before that I doodled around a little on paper, which is a whole lot more difficult...
As for my instrument, I play the cello and have been for about 5 years (5 and a half?). Just this year I began to get serious about it. I hope to become a cellist/teacher (music, of course) someday. Composition is only for the joy of creation, and to put it in a noble manner, for my legacy (AKA - for my big head).
I am very familiar with the cello and its limits (wow, Dvorak concerto...), which makes it easy for me to write for it, and less so on other instruments, especially those crazy winds. Why can't they just read in concert pitch?
Other than that I play in a multitude of orchestras throughout the year, and love every note. I don't think one can live off of solos and small ensembles alone. Gotta have that massive orchestral sound. Ah!
Anyway, so that's me... If anyone else has suggestions (terribly good or wonderfully bad) for the piece, feel free to post.
