Plagiarism is a bit insulting...I don't recall hearing a piece that had anything near that melody. Well, no, I take that back. A passage sounded oddly familiar, but after research turned out to be one of my piano sonatas.
It would help if you told the piece and composer of what it sounds like.
I would just then rename it as variations, lol. Although, that wouldn't fit the form.
Besides, although I think you're being misleading, It's what you DO with the theme.
I'm a terrible theme writer to begin with, but I like to think My developmental Ideas are alright.
The french horn Idea is excellent. I don't use the horn as much in this piece as I usually do. Thanks for that.
The Cadenza should be a bit flashier...I'm sure I could improvise a great one...but there is the issue of writing it down. I actually sped up the tempo for the Cadenza.
