Ancient History

When a past event is mentioned some people often say "That's Ancient History."
In this piece I tried to show a past experience someone may be having. I don't use pianos much in my pieces, so I decided to make this piece centered around that instrument. Tell me how I did.

a little bit random

Hi Bob. I gather from your tag that you like a certain randomness in your music. I got the feel that this was an improv over your ostinato and drum track. Although it had a nice blues feel to it, I also felt it was a bit spur of the moment and repetitive as if you weren't sure where to go next so you just repeated the previous phrase until you got a new thought. I think it still needs a bit of work as it is fairly short. You could easily turn it into a song-form piece with one more section. And if piano isn't your main instrument maybe go with the one that is. But I really liked the ostinato and the intro.

Bob

I love composing for the piano. Often times I do pieces that only a PC could play, but I like the sound. This one is fairly simple from the pianists point of view, but the piece is complex enough to pull it off.

I would suggest trying to expand on this one and see where it goes. The piano is such a versatile instrument, that you could go in many different directions and still have the piece flow smoothly.

Play around with the piano for a while and you may just get to liking it a lot. Many others have before you.

Well done
