Aries

My sign is Aries. But I believe in astrology as much as I believe in the Easter Bunny and Frosty the Snowman. Yet each day I make a point of reading my little section in the paper devoted to those of us that fall under the sign of Aries. With all that said, this has nothing to do with any of that. I wanted a name for a new piece, so I used Aries as a placeholder until I came up with a name for this piece. That has yet to happen.

This is all GPO or JABB and I have no story to go with it. Just an odd theme that I tried to vary a few times and a contrasting section for good measure.

It will go along with Crusader of Wrong Note Consonance, either just before or just after. I am leaning towards this one being 1st.

Here it is

Hey Ron,
Its great to see you back in your "style". This is the Ron we all know and love.
You are creating some very nice colors here, some we havn't heard from you and overall its just really enjoyable.
Ever think of doing a whole Zodiac Suite? Something to think about.

Great Work
Scott.

Ron,

This piece seems smoother and more integrated in form than "Crusader of Wrong Note Consonance". Altogether a very good listen. I thought the orchestral colours and the balance were excellent, and the ending had a good finality to it.

Your music is to my ears more a case of "Right Note Dissonance" .

Thank you my friend for the kind words.

I don't really understand this piece yet, but I am growing to like it.

I was wondering if anyone would say the ending needs one more note. I debated that for quite a while before deciding against it.

I got accepted to the University of Md this summer for a Math (Something) called Spiral. We all study Game theory and math problems for 6 weeks. Yes I actually applied for this and they will pay me for this and give me college credits as well. 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week for 6 weeks, nothing but Math. What have I gotten myself into this time?

Thanks again
Ron

I quite like this piece. It has some interesting harmonies combined with some very good melodies, and (from what I could discern from the midi) great use of the orchestral colours at your disposal. I liked the ending a lot. It does leave you hanging a bit but when played by a real orchestra in a hall with sufficient reverb it would sound awesome.

Did I hear a midi saxophone in there? Because if I did it makes the piece even better

*first few notes reminds him of Pictures at an Exhibition*

*pieces immediately Ron-izes*

I kept expecting this to break out in nursery rhyme, oddly enough. This Old Man? Then I heard the Whoville song from The Grinch...

HAha... I can always tell a Ron ending... so distinct and dissonant,
never a finished quality about it.

This was a bit more "coherent" than a lot of your stuff.

Tariq

I may get a larger ego than I already have if I get many comments such as yours. Thank you.

ClassicalSax

I thought a lot about the ending, and you are right. There needs to be a lot of reverb in the hall for it to work right, but most halls are designed for that.

James

This only has 2 themes in it, although I do try to hide that as much as I can.
I must be doing something wrong if it is coherent!

Thanks guys, it means a lot to get comments.

Ron

I enjoyed the harmonies and melodic ideas in your piece. I thought your realisation let you down a bit. You can get a bit of a sense of what the instrumentation is but your synths aren't really doing your music justice.
