Bagatelle in B major

Hello everybody,

I started a thread a few days ago about free-counterpoint. I have composed something in the manner i was asking about. (The thread is in composers Headquarter)
The idea is to have two unresticted voices playing together in a romantic fashion. It's half composed, half improvised.
I'm curious to hear what you think of it.

I think this is quite an interesting concept, though it has probably been done before. I totally agree that this piece is written in a somewhat romantic style. There is nice interplay between the voices, but I feel that there is too much dissonance at times. The harmony is at times non-directional, but overall it flows pretty well. I like the fact that you have a somewhat clear theme in a half-improvised piece (that takes skill).

Good Job.

lol, can u please just change one thing in your post - "The other day I started a threat" - its thread.

Haha, i laughed.

The recording is very quiet I like the piece...and yes, its a beautifully romantic improvisation.
I agree with Mael that the harmony is a bit...nondirectional, but nontheless, its very beautiful - I have to say that you have a gift of Melody. Its gorgeous.

Now: In regards to your concept on the counterpoint, and particuarly the fact it is in two voices. It is very, well...i dont know how to put it: simple. Its not the word im looking for, but thats the best way to describe it. I think that although this piece sounds beautiful because of its simplicity, its not very innovative. If you could (and this is incredibly near-impossible) improvise more than 2 parts, it would be so much more intriguing. Just adding a third part would be enough to completely gain my heart!

This is however, my personal opinion. And even though my comments seem negative, i have a positive thinking for this piece. Its lovely

Well done.

Thanks for the reply goodridge. I know it's quite simple and minimalistic. There are two reasons for i quess. Firtsly i'm just not good enough on the piano to be writting difficult music. Espaccialy two seperate voices is something i'm just starting to learn. While secondly i think that what i'm aiming for is complexity in the combination of two voices. That's not very obvious in this piece though. Agian thanks for the replies guys. I was wondering how this type of my output would be concieved by others. And now i know that you feel about the same way about it as i do. That for me means than i'm not the only person who hears certain aspects in this piece and that's nice to know.
