~ Candelabra ~ Song with mp3

Hi,

I wrote a very simple song. It began as a poem challenge to write something associated with a candle so I wrote it about a woman addressing her spirit as being like a candle.

I started the song with as a simple harmony rocking between E and A. But then I found that I couldn't break out of that simple two-chord pattern in any way that felt good.

So I just stayed with that very simple two-chord pattern throughout the whole song and tried to be creative with the melodic verse. (my performance isn't very good but hopefully you'll get the idea).

A have a couple question,....

First,...

A lot of people seem to like it and no one has yet complained about it being boring or anything like that. I also kind of like the hypnotic affect of the monphonic harmony.

Is this considered a particular style of music? Something like Gregorian Chant only different? By that, I mean, is there a name to this kind of music that I can search for to learn more about this style of music?

Second,...

Is there anything I can do to break out of the E-A chord pattern without drastically breaking away from the almost hypnotic lull? I've tried going to different chords but everything seems to be disruptive.

~~~
I don't have sheet music for this so I wrote the lyrics below using the CODE tag to try to align the chords with the lyrics the best I can.
Code:
E                A
When I hear your name
E                       A
I feel your luminescent flame
E                A                E     A
burning bright inside my tortured soul
E      A          E      A
You illuminate my day
E                 A            E     A
you incinerate my troubles all away
E           A
It feels so sweet
E                      A
to feel fervor of your heat
E                 A            E       A
on those cold and empty lonely nights
E       A
Hold me tight
E            A              E           A
Never let me vanish of your sight
E               A          E       A
In your shining radiance I fly
E                 A              E      A
Without your love I would surely die
E             A
You’re like a dream
E             A
an iridescent beam
E                A               E        A
overflowing with love to fill my heart
E           A                 E        A
You fill my soul with so much love
E             A                E        A
I’m sure your light came from above
E             A                 E        A
Your soul’s enchanted with your light
E          A                E        A
You make a difference in my life
E          A
You are my light
E                    A
like a candle in the night
E                     A           E          A
without your love I’d be alone in darkness
E          A           E          A
You set my spirit all aflame
E            A            E
My life will never be the same
A           E
I need your light
A           E
I need your light
A           E
I need your love
Here is a link to a web page that contains the mp3 and the lyrics also are there.
Candlelabra
Let me know if you have suggestions for improvements, and what you think of it just the way it is.
I know it could use some better timings in places between verses, and the performance overall is bad. But try to imagine it being performed by someone who can actually sing.
I urge you to try a slightly more complex rhyme scheme. I don't say this to sound snobbish. Here's why: it forces you to think ahead. That's why I do it for myself. Right now there are some lovely sentiments in the song, but none of them seem to come to full fruition. They're all the seeds of ideas, and you only take them as far as the end of the rhyme. As a result, the song doesn't really move anywhere. With more complex rhymes you are forced to look ahead in the song and see where the lyric is going to take you.
As for the chords... hypnotic, yes, but also a little redundant. There are a few places worth changing it up a bit. The bridge. PLEASE change the chords in the bridge. It won't throw us for too much of a loop, because we expect chord changes at the bridge. Also, the ends of verses are good places to throw us a new chord. Just a little something to keep us hanging on into the next verse. The tag at the end of the song, as well, is a good place to throw us a curve, and then bring us back in.
Hope that's helpful!
