Post Chasing the Cheesecake

This is my entry for the 14th CGEmpire music competition. Seeing that Rolifer has posted his, I might as well post mine.

This piece is called Chasing the Cheesecake, and throughout the whole piece, I wanted to evoke the feeling of chasing someting, be it cheesecake or cats or mice. I hope I acheived this feel. The instrumentation is pretty simple. Since the theme for the competition is Retro, I used lots of retro synths, with some percussion instruments to give it more rhythmic variety.

Keep in mind that I did not win the competition. Got 4 votes for it, which made me tied on 6th place out of 21 entries. I thought it wasn't too bad a result for a first attempt of mine. Hopefully, future attempts would get more votes.

And yes, here's the piece: Chasing the Cheesecake

You did well for your first time in the competitions. This was my 4th or 5th and this was the worst I've ever placed. But who cares. You can't go into these except by knowing that it is just for fun and practice. You never know where the votes will go.

I might be the third to post here my entry but since I am in dial-up I guess some day but not now! =P

Chasing the Cheesecake it was very enjoyable in special because it bring me visuals, the tittle is great and is what starts to guide my mind to a visual. The music plus the sounds effects are nice. All helps me to get a nice visual in my mind and that is what make me like your piece. By the way it remind me also to an 'old' famous work which I don't remember the name (Just some little notes).

Sounds very cool Nigel... yep it does evoke someone/something being chased, and the main instrument used makes it sound like it would be great music for an 80s console game. And I liked all the various sound effects you added in. "Not too bad a result"??? Geez, don't kid yourself - 6th place is great.

Very comical, it sounds like it should be in a video game or something like in the boss level. Just thought I throw that out there.

Thanks for the input. This was meant to sound comical, and retro at the same time. The 80s would be what I'm aiming for, an old, retro-y incidental setting around that time. Try imaginig retro console version of tom and jerry
