Ah, thought you wanted to know the acronym. It's the name for the time in all the countries falling in region 0 on this map (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...optimized.png). The time in the countries on the left of that region is equal to the GMT minus it's region number, the time in the countries on the right that of the GMT plus it's region number.

GMT is one hour behind BST, so it would be 7 PM GMT. I imagine we'll change the time to conform to GMT once Summer Time ends (if the chat schedule idea is still alive and kicking by then, that is).

Hi, I'm just wondering, is it really necessary to have the Chat room? I mean, I rarely see people going on, and there was only one time that I saw someone was on.

The idea is that the chatroom is more private with more features than the shoutbox. It isn't often used, though, you're right.

If the chatroom were to open when YC opened people would stay and chat for a bit, but that could get annoying. Would it be possible to get the chatroom embedded in the index page?

"Open when YC opened"? I was under the impression we did business 24 hours a day here.

(EDIT: I now see what you mean, silly I. See below for critique, however.)

It would be possible to have it embedded in the index page, yes, but that would be rather intrusive. What's more, it would put paid to any relevancy the list of chatters had, since it would be impossible to look at the index without joining the chat.

You know what I meant

yeah, I agree about the embedding thing, should've thought of that.
