I'm sure I've seen that suggestion somewhere before...

I quite like the idea. An arrangement competition, where you must arrange one of your own pieces.

exactly...

By the way... I don't know how that really works around here; planning a competition. Is it the intention (is that the right word? i'm not english) that I'm doing that myself or someone else like a moderator?

In this thread, we post ideas and discuss them. If one is liked by many people, then the mods might use it for a competition.

How about an unaccompanied solo competition?
- Just monophonic instruments like woodwinds, brass, solo strings. Strings would be allowed to have double-stops ect., because any wind instrument is capable of multiphonics. Either that or just have plain monophony, that would be better.

Another: Celtic competition, anyone?
- Celtic stlye with bagpipes, fiddle, flutes, guitar, some bass instrument. That could be fun.

Here's an idea that Alex, The Nightfly and I were talking about a few days ago:

What about scoring an animated film?

A good example of this is: The Composer

I can do flash animation, but we need writers to make this happen. My writing skills are much too random for the seriousness of the competition.

Here's an example (parody) of my animation style:

LASER RAY GUN!

This took only a few hours. Something much better could be done with proper planning.

So what do you think?

Update: Found a writer... yeah!! (Berlioz) Anyways, there's still other things that can be done, especially if anyone likes to draw.
