I'll back Nickthoven's proposal, then. Chamber ensemble incidental/film music, any combination of 2-8 instruments (NOT orchestra).

The piano quartet is COMPLETE!!!

Please note that I will not review the following without a very good reason:
1) MP3-only posts: no score + outside link = bad deal. Especially true because I'm on dialup when at home.
2) Shoutbox or PM spam: excessive shameless plugs get very annoying very fast.
3) Pieces written in a short time or with little effort: if it's not worth the composer's time and energy, then it's not worth mine either.

Ok then. Any ensemble of 2-8 instruments it is. The scene? I will pick one shortly.

Why not any of these things? It's what I'm good at, and now I can't enter any of the competitions. Brahms was very slow then. It would take me a week or two to write a symphony or a concerto, and I would LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT!

*sigh* nevermind im just rambling.

Yes brahms 1st symphony did take a great deal of time, but his second symphony was written in like 2 weeks or months. so.........

I don't particularly like writing small ensemble scores. They are quite boring and you are so limited to what you can do. I write for full orchestra and concert band.

I'm not going to enter a small ensemble competition. You can have one...maybe I will judge. That's what I do with competitions that I don't want to enter.

Lovely. I like the idea that duets qualify. Have we reached a decision yet (film/movie)? Any idea about the genre of the film?

If it's a chamber ensemble...count me in for judging.

Yea, I back Nickthoven's idea.
With the scene we're getting, we should probably get some background info on it, and the plot, so we know what mood the scene is in.
Or alternatively we could forget that and write the music to create our own mood around the action.

Also, the judges would probably have to listen to the music along with the film, and somehow have them playing at exactly the same time.
