I definately vote for the movie theme. Writing just a chamber piece...we could do that with any 'ol competition. Maybe we can end up doing both...

Ooo! Movie theme!!

I always write with a video game scene in mind, so this'll be perfect for me!

Now if only I could get the Chamber Ensemble fanatics to agree with me.

I'm just soo tired of hearing orchestral music.... especially on finale!!!! oh my gosh, ahhhhh! (on the subject of orchestral music, christmas was good to me three score books came in today! Brahms complete symphonies,Jean sibelius/Edvard Elgar/Alexander Glazunov violin concertos and Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe,I love the fact that score books are soooooo cheap. I mean 8.75 for the knowledge of Ravel's most greatest Orhcestration secrets, alllllll right there!!!!! and Brahms...........AH)

anyways, you can cover alot of mistakes with orchestral music, chamber music it is all out in but flesh and bare bones. None of that fatty orchestrations.

I think the Chamer Music choice will prove to be a lot less complicated than a movie scene-like thing. Plus, less instruments to worry about. AND more chance of it being performed!

That's the thing about movie music, though.

A love scene can be a passionate love piano solo or a firey love mariachi type thing or a comical love concert band. It can be anything.

Keep in mind that the chamber ensemble proposal from the other thread required at least one string and one wind instrument. No standard ensembles here!

The piano quartet is COMPLETE!!!

Please note that I will not review the following without a very good reason:
1) MP3-only posts: no score + outside link = bad deal. Especially true because I'm on dialup when at home.
2) Shoutbox or PM spam: excessive shameless plugs get very annoying very fast.
3) Pieces written in a short time or with little effort: if it's not worth the composer's time and energy, then it's not worth mine either.

Well, I'd like to do either, but I've been meaning to write a piece for woodwind quintet, so this could be my excuse. Chamber it is. As long as we can pick any chamber ensemble, no preset instruments...

Maybe the chamber competition would be a good excuse for me to continue working on my fourth String Quartet...
