I have problems writing what I feel is worthy material. I think I get too overwhelmed by the number of instruments, as if each has to have different parts. Transposition isn't a problem. In any case, I write with NWC, so it's concert pitch until I choose otherwise .

I just got in the top 3 finalist for the Central Florida Young Composers Challenge. My piece is being performed this Sunday and I will be down there for the performance.

The piano quartet is COMPLETE!!!

Please note that I will not review the following without a very good reason:
1) MP3-only posts: no score + outside link = bad deal. Especially true because I'm on dialup when at home.
2) Shoutbox or PM spam: excessive shameless plugs get very annoying very fast.
3) Pieces written in a short time or with little effort: if it's not worth the composer's time and energy, then it's not worth mine either.

Bleh? My experience was very educational. It's something every young composer should do.

I'm a finalist in my city for a musical composition, my composition is going to state now. I wonder how it will fair. I don't care if I do win or not, I had fun doing it.

I am a fellow composer and wish to compose music for video games as a career.

I need to find some contests for concert band and piano scores.

It seems like most of these contests are for orchestral scores, but I write other stuff as well.

I just found this.
This link has some concert band contests and such:

ASCAP Composition Opportunities

This should be a real good one:

(You have to be 18 however.)

ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell Prize for
The Best Original Score for Concert Band
Program Administered by ASCAP's Concert Music Department

ASCAP and the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) seek to recognize talented young composers who write music for Concert Band. The prize is $5,000. The ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell prize is awarded bi-annually. The winning score will be performed at the 2007 CBDNA Conference.

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America, or enrolled students with student visas who have not reached their 30th Birthday by January 1, 2007.

How to apply: Open to citizens or permanent U.S. residents, or enrolled students with student visas, who are between the ages of 18 and 30 as of January 1, 2007.

Deadline: All applications must be postmarked no later than September 15, 2006.
