Yeah I do, and I've found a website that allows you to convert between any format (.mid, .wav) into another format (.mp3). It's not the best results, probably because of the quality of the midi file to start with, but it's ok.

I'll check out the Synthfont option in a while...

The midi file will not determine the quality of the output .mp3 because midi is just note data. What determines the quality is the synth/soundfonts/samples used to playback the midi data.

I don't have synthfonts yet, and a pretty basic sound card. So rubbish sounds = rubbish midi = rubbish mp3.

You know what I meant...

Google "soundfonts" and "soundfontz" visit KVR: Virtual Instruments, Virtual Effects, VST Plugins, Audio Units (AU), DirectX (DX), Universal Binary Compatibility - Audio Plugin News, Reviews and Community and there are TONS of FREE synth and drums and even samples lying around for people to use them. Register and you're off!

Did you get Synthfont yet? If so all you have to do now is download the soundfonts you want. I already gave you this site but what the heck...
If you want some high quality free SF2 files go to SF2 soundfont files, free download

Also I recommend you get a good reverb VST Effect.

Yeah, I've got the software, but when I try to download the files, I need to log in, and it keeps coming back with "Bad Registration." And wont let me register...

Weird lets me register. Really though, just try to register again and see what happens. If not, then just google soundfonts and see what you can find.

Is there an easy, or free way to convert MIDI files to MP3?

If you have a decent sound card on your computer you should be able to "record whatever you can hear" from the sound card. I have a Sound Blaster Live Drive card and it comes with a midi synthesizer and a number of different Sound Fonts to create different midi instruments on the synthesizer. So if I wanted to make a MP3 recording, I would first create a Wave (.WAV) recording by selecting the "record whatever you hear" feature in the Sound Blaster Mixer, and it would record whatever sounds the Midi Synthesizer is playing, plus I could also simultaneously mix in 2 audio tracks (vocals, guitar, etc). Then finally you would need to get a software conversion utility to create the .MP3 file from the .WAV file. It's not hard to find such converting software for a low price. Sounds like you want to create a finished recording by using midi synthesizers. If so, try to find some copies of Computer Music magazine, they frequently deal with that topic and suggest hardware for that purpose.
