Dance in A Major (Added as the 3rd movement of my String Quartet #1)

I've long wanted to add a third movement to my string quartet (turning the former 3rd movement into the 4th), and I finally did.

Nothing fancy, a simple dance. I had to remain faithful to the extreme simplicity of the quartet, so there you are.

Here's the mp3

A really cute piece, that instantly reminds me of cartoons. It's simple, but at the same time I think you managed the instruments' textures quite well. Some weird harmonic movement in the middle between the cello and db, but nothing to affect the piece's enjoyability. What I liked the most was the comical use of the db, a different character from the quartet's other movements.

It was good overall. I smiled at a few parts and me and the boys give it a rousing "Sounds like chocobo music."

Good choice in making it your third movement. It's got a great scherzo quality, but I'd warn you of keeping that same cute tone in the rest of the piece. Given how mature this piece is, however, I'd wager that that's not really going to be a problem.

I'd like to see the rest of the piece. Is it here somewhere?

The link is up there, at the first phrase of the post. It's a very old piece I had already completed. The former 3rd movement is now the fourth.

See Immediate Notes Thread:
I was immediately gripped by this piece. Good quality and well written. I love it!

near the end, your first violin does a tremelo and i laughed: the midi completely changed library haha...and was like full string ensemble tremelo haha. Its funny.

But yea, good job. Just goes to show that chords I II IV V IV can be used effectively if the composer is smart - you proved this

Bravo.

It sorta reminds me of Leroy Anderson, But to make this sound better I would have changed the GM in Instrument List to String Ensemble , But It was very good, I Loved The Melody, Unlike some of the pieces on this site, This one sounds very good.

What the...

Wow thanks, everyone decided to gravedig this?

I have a GPO recording HERE in which I made some minor changes (removing some tremolos, adding pizzicatos and spicattos, nothing to the level of changing the actual score).
