Well, I sent my results to Mike but he's away. Should I pm all the other judges, collect the results myself and create a results thread?

I'm so sorry for the delay. I've been very much preoccupied with other things as of late.

I've received judgings from four out of the five judges, which is good enough for me. However, one distributed their comments via a Google Document, which is presently inaccessible, so verdicts will have to wait until that becomes available.

Again, apologies for the delay - I'll try my best to get this thing sorted out ASAP.

Today, actually.

I've just finished averaging the scores. There are a few things in relation to this which should be disclosed:
  • Four out of the five judges submitted verdicts, and no less than four different scoring methods were used. The first judge used a percentage. The second used a rating out of five. The third used a rating out of 10, to the nearest 0.5. The fourth specified only a top three and did not provide scores for the remainder of the participants, however they did provide very detailed commentaries.
  • In the case of the two judges who did not use percentage scoring (rather ratings out of five and ten, respectively), I simply converted these to percentages.
  • In the case of the judge who specified only a top three, I added 50 onto the scores of all participants who were not named in the top three list, and added 80, 70 and 60 respectively onto the scores of those who were placed winner, runner-up and third-place in the list.
So, without further ado, I can announce the winning, runner-up and third-placed entries for the Duet Competition:

WINNER - Nightscape (avg. 83%)
RUNNER-UP - rolifer (avg. 73%)
THIRD PLACE - Berlioz (avg. 71.3%)

Congratulations to the above three, and thanks everyone for participating! This was a great competition with a lot of entries, and while that creates extra work for me, it's still a very good thing.

Shortly, I will be PM'ing each contestant their scores and comments. Contestants should know that one judge has yet to produce commentaries, opting to do so only once the result was announced. I'll follow that up now, so you can expect the fourth commentary fairly shortly.

As for a prize, we'll see what we can do.

Well done to everyone!
The top three is like my top three, except Berlioz was first in mine.

Congrats! This was a good competition. I saw a lot of talent and a lot of potential. Please, by all means, continue to use competitions like this and - yes, I will make a plug - CMC, as well as others, as a way to refine your craft and an excuse to compose. If you go into with that mindset, it doesn't matter what placement you receive. Having submitted something becomes reward enough. Good work all and I hope to hear more from you.

Thanks, judges, for your useful comments. I was able to clean up the score a little bit because you noticed a few things I missed.
