Here is my submission for the competition. It is titled "Virtuosia" and is for two marimbas. The music, as you would guess, is quite virtuosic. I have some experience with the marimba, as I played percussion in high school.

It is very much a modal composition, and I was most inspired to write this after hearing Steve Reich's "Nagoya Marimbas".

Hi all,

Here's my submission:

Title/Author: Duet No 1. "Coda" for Flute and Guitar by Kia P.

Inspiration: Currently, my three favorite types of music are Klezmer, Renaissance Folk Music and Acid Jazz. So naturally these three types of music influenced this piece, it has some bends, embellishments/trills, and modulates frequently, a folky-jazzy rhapsody of sorts. I play flute but not guitar so I'm unsure about the difficulty of the guitar part. But since the flute part just about covers the whole range of the flute, the fautist should have good range. This piece is written in rondo form.

Thumbs up

Here is my submission to this competition. It is a Duet I thought up on my violin and with some random tinkering of the piano. It is simply made up of two main themes used in many different ways that turn out a little virtuosic.
