Eastern-style song for piano...

Another one of my short tunes - I can never seem to write a song which lasts more than about 2 minutes. Having said that, this one seems to be a bit more complex than what I usually come up with.

It is based on some music I have heard by a pair of obscure composers of piano music named G.I. Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartmann. They write sort of "spiritual" music based on a traditional "ancient" styles of a few different cultures. It's pretty simplistic stuff, but doesn't always use traditional classical conventions.

This tune is a bit stop-start and a bit all over the place. Lots of 5ths in the harmony but that was deliberate.

Any comments appreciated.

It had a good sounding original beginning, but then it got wasted with those dissonanses and speed ups of rythm... You can't really make such tempo changes in music, thant's what i think... )

It has an interesting sound....a little ambient sometimes.
I thought the tempo changes fit the mysterious character of the piece.

There are several good ideas in this piece but none are developed - they are just stated and stopped. You have recognized the problem yourself. With some repetition and variation/development of each idea, and then some transition passages to link these ideas up, you would have an excellent composition of several minutes.

These ideas are quite musical and well worth developing into a longer smoother piece.

Interesting use of fifths, nice intro. I feel that all the ideas could be developed or even repeated much more. The times where you establish a brief theme are really really nice ideas. Take these ideas and begin changing small things like transposing the idea up/down , changing rhythm, harmony, etc and develop the ideas. You have at least 2 really nice themes here.
