Electronic/Experimental Album

I wrote this album over the past 2 years it's called "This is Bliss"

I tried to blend a little bit of classical with some of the tracks, I also tried to keep everything up-beat, but not be super repetitive with every song sounding the same. It took me 2 years to finish this cd and I would like to know what you guys think of it.

Trevor Lentz

there is one of the songs can be downloaded absolutely free, the rest of them can be streamed, enjoy.

Okay, listening now.

This Is Bliss: I feel like the material itself is pretty good; the melodies, the development, etc. However, IMO, the sonic aspect of things needs work. The drums are sort of drowned out, and I can't say I dig the bombastic "Hollywood strings" effect. Try making the mix a little sparser and clearer.

The Worst Song Ever: Well, the song itself isn't bad. Again, the melodic material is pretty solid, and things are a little better from a sonic point of view. However, you really need to think of a new name for this song.

Starlight Drive: Nice buildup in the beginning. Nice synth textures. Could use a better bassline. The ending could use work.

Party 4 EVR: I feel like you should take down the tempo on this one a bit; it just sounds silly as it is. Has a nice drive to it, though.

I also listened to Sun Shines Darkest, Lightspeed, and a bit of Laugh Out Loud, but don't have much to say on them that I haven't already said.

As I've said, from a compositional perspective, these tracks are pretty good. Catchy melodies, etc. Maybe lacking a bit in structural coherency, but I can't say that for sure without listening to them more closely first. My main criticisms are from a sonic perspective. This stuff sounds like video game music, because the sounds are pretty tinny and dated. If that's the effect you're going for, fine, but it's not really to my taste. In most of the pieces, the drums need to be brought farther forward in the mix. Though this is just my opinion, I also feel like most of the tracks could stand to be stripped down a bit; they're pretty busy. It doesn't detract too much from the listening, though.
