Etude Nr.1 in G major

Hi, I'm new to piano music (never had a teacher), so I've written an etude to improve my non-existing keyboard-playing skills.
The melody is a bit lame, but it's ok for practicing (at least for me). It can be played with right or left hand at any octave.

I would be happy if someone could help me with the fingerings. Any other criticism and comments are welcome, of course.

also, even such a small and simple piece shows your potentially large creativity, in my opinion. i especially like measures 6-10.

you can find attached my fingering for the right hand. i've done it from work (where i have no piano) so i'll check it when i'm home, but it should be fine. i'll also do the left-hand fingering at home as well.

alternative fingering for measure 16 could be 4 3 2 5 2 1 2 4.

keep up the good work i think you should already start writing yourself two-hand etudes

i'm now home and i've checked the fingering posted above. it has 1 mistake - in measure 18 the first number should be 4 or 5, not 2.

And many thanks for the fingerings, too! Though my hands are very slow yet (I have problems even with basic technics like 1 2 or 1 3 moving downwards with the right hand), I think I could improve with time.

I have problems with measures starting with an octave jump, too. For eg. in the 5th measure, I couldn't figure out how to start with 1 after ending the previous measure with 2. Starting with 3 is easier for me, but in that case I fail the octave jump. Could you help me how to execute it?

sure, let's see

at the end of measure 4 your hand is placed as follows: 5 at G5, 2 at D5 and 1 at B4 (you are probably familiar with Scientific pitch notation?).

you play G5 with 5, D5 with 2. right after you've played D5 you prepare to play B4 with 1, but you already move your hand so that 1 is still at B4 while 2 leads towards G4. at this moment your finger 1 gets covered by your palm

so, you then play B4 and keep the palm as it is now, with 1st finger hidden from you. you prepare to play G4 with 2 and at the same time you start moving 1 towards A4.

you play G4, prepare to play A4 and release your palm back - moving 5 towards A5.

you play A4 and there you go

You know, with this kind of pieces, you can afford to have way more sequences and it would sound cool!
