"Fantasia g-minor" for piano

This is a piano pieces I wrote about a year ago. I just got the opportunity to perform it at our school's summer concert.

The recording actually is quite a bad quality and I made two or three playing mistakes.

MP3 File

I hope you'll enjoy and I'm looking forward to your comments!

its so beautiful!
i love the rhythmic variety. the ending sounds very unusual, it makes a good ending, but it makes me want more. i like it.

btw, i like the contrast between the different keys you used.

Actually I do this kind of ending quite often. I just got the feeling that a "normal" ending in g minor would have been a bit boring...

An extremely, extremely beautiful and peaceful piece. It is interesting how it "un-minor" you make it sound, the variety of chords and rhythms are just icing on top of an already excellent cake. There's not much more I can say about this.. but hey this is an excellent piece of music, please post more...

I like the way you talk about it so poetically, thank you

I'd like to post more piano pieces of mine but unfortunately I don't have the opportunity to have a proper recording with them and the sound of a midi or a sampled audio file is just insufficient imo.

But maybe I'm going to get some recording equipment myself soon...

So have a little patience, there'll be more

I found this be wonderfully pretty - I love this kind of sonority. Yet I feel you don't adapt completely well to the large scale of the piece. I was really interested at the beginning and loved your sonority, but it started to drag and the harmony felt more and more lacking as I didn't feel enough variety. But you *did* have variety eventually, and wonderful variety (the passage after bar 39 was lovely) it's just that I feel this is a piano miniature that was slightly inflated. Personally if I heard this in a concert hall I wouldn't be bored, because I find this very beautiful - but I *would* be aching for something a bit more dynamic after a while.

Other things I loved were that jazzy touch in bar 57, and the phrase after bar 64 that brought a smile to my face. Personally I found the ending to be unfulfilling for the same reasons chodelkovzart liked it I was aching for something a bit more cadencial and conclusive, but that's a completely subjective thing.

Congrats on a lovely piece.

You're actually the first one of whom I've heard a bit of critics on the piece and I'm glad you did so.

Unfortunately I don't fully understand what you mean sometimes (I'm German and you use a bit complicated language (for me) sometimes):

Do you mean that that's an arranging problem or something like that? If that's the case then I'd say that I didn't work it out too complicated for that I would be able to play it myself (I'm not that good a pianist)

You're right that most people would want something more dynamic after some time. If I had continued the piece I would certainly have created a faster part afterwards... But like this it should just be a slow peace. But I also think it shouldn't be any longer.

Thanks for reviewing!

No prob. What I meant is that I feel this is something that would have worked perfectly as a shorter piece, but as the longer piece that it is now loses some pace and interest. The 'inflated' refers to the piece's size.
