Figured bass realisation

this forum's been pretty dead for a while now so i thought I'd try and stir up some interest.

Here's the brief: Someone posts a figured bassline and everyone has a go at realising it, can be for whatever, as long as it's harmonic: piano, harpsi. organ, choir, lute, guitar, whatever.

here's a bassline i came up with in maths, have fun!

NB - for those who don't know what figured bass is or how to work with it:The GPO Continuo Tutorial (not just for GPO users)

ok, here's my realisation of it, for organ, i know it's not the usual organ for continuo, but what the hell

I've put P over all the passing tones to avoid confusion, and written the chord progression under the figurations, it's in four voices... kind of.

There may be one or two parallels i missed, if you notice any feel free to point them out

Mark

I've started a simple 2 violin canon at the 12th as an excercise over a realization of this on keyboard. Here's the opening, I'll finish it later.

Frantz! I was wondering if/when you'd turn up, haven't seen you around much lately.

You gonna have a go?

hi Mark! yes i have not been visiting this place lately, i am sort of tired of it, i post many things but few people care at all. so i realized i am wasting my time. anyway sometimes i check the latest uploads, like this one. i noticed you have posted a concert, but i couldn't open the file, i can just listen to midi or mp3, shame!

as this game i am afraid am not able to do any figured bass, i don't know its rules and am not interested in learning them so i will wait for another game.

thanks for writting!!

Here is a harpsichord attempt, plus one variation (I used the minor subdominant). And its in G Major by mistake.

What do you think?

It would be cool to have much longer figured bass exercises, and perhaps compose small bits of instrument sonatas or keyboard music on them. Would anyone be interested in trying something much longer (say, 16 bars in AB form)?

I'd forgotten about this
Nice realisation echurchill, and that suggestion certainly sounds worthy of further discussion...

Well, I'm not all that great at figured bass realization, but I figured it would be good practice.
