Waitasecond. Are we narrowing it down again or are you just going to post a winner? I don't want to go through any more eliminations, let's just get this over with.

Don't worry, Johann. I think he meant he and the conductor have narrowed it down in their choice, like they're not done yet, just evaluating. Like they were wieghing the pros and cons of each piece, and decided that two of the five had the most cons or whatever. Bad explanation. Oh well. You get the point.

Anyway, I don't think he meant there are going to be any more 'eliminations' as it were, save the end result.

For the record, my piece is called "The Choice Fulfilled" as opposed to "The Choice Fullfilled". I just realized yesterday, that I can't spell....

You and me both. After using this screen name as well as a means to copyright my music, it occurred to me that Nightingale is spelled with an "i" instead of an "e". Also, my first completed composition "The Galvanized Suite" is listed here has "Galvenized". I should invest in a dictionary sometime!

So, I wonder if Thomas and the conductor have any updates for us?? It is almost the end of the month...! Or at least, who are the top three?

Don't worry I'm still here. My computer went all crappy on me and I almost lost everything (every composer's nightmare!!). We just need to finalise a few things and then the winner will be revealed. We're hoping that this decision should be out within the week. Sorry for the long delay!!!

After much deliberation and humming and harring, we have finally made our decision. The winner of the Film Music Competition 2006 is:

Jon Howie with Journey to the Oasis

Congratulations to Jon and congrats also to the others that took part in this competition (and who finished on time!)

Just a little note we would like to make: please keep in contact - if you happen to come across spare time and draft something for something around this ensemble, we'll see what we'll be able to do. There were some other pieces that the conductor seemed interested in though due to time constraints, these would have been impossible to perform. Maybe in the New Year, if you wish to send us anything, we'll be pleased to have a look at it and see what we can do.

Congrats, Jon. I believed your piece deserved to win. It was the most film-ish in my opinion and well crafted.
Also you did a fine job on the scoring of the piece. Look forward to hearing it performed.

Great work!

*faints*

No way!! Awesome!!! This weekend just gets better and better...

Well, thanks to you, Thomas, and your conductor for both putting on this competition and picking my piece in the end. And good job, everyone who participated. I heard some great stuff in this thread, and Nick's piece especially was very well written.

Thanks, Jeremy.
