I was also wondering if we were going to get comments. I emailed Thomas and this is what he said:

Hey Paul,

Thanks for getting in contact.

No, I haven't forgotten - I'm just up to my eyes at the moment (I've
just started a new job with ridiculous hours!!) I'm off on Sunday and
Monday and will try my best to get those comments to you.

Regards,
Thomas

I guess we will get our comments shortly.

I think the best piece for the competition won, so I ain't really worried about a review.

To concerned musicians:

The e-mail that I sent everyone was a courtesy e-mail saying that you either had or hadn't won. It was not the review of your piece for your information. In the case of Mr. Shaver, I'm sorry for being courteous and sending you that 'processed bullshit', informing you about your position in the competition.

There will be long reviews going out this week for people that wished to recieve them.

Hmm, no need to be sorry.

It just felt kind of impersonal.

lol something tells me this can somehow relate back to the "discouraging young composers" forum topic, in one way or another, but I am not going to unleash that debate here, so for now I'll just allude to it.

anyways I just got a chance to listen to the entries and like I said jon howie's composition was awesome and everyone who I listened to amazed me....

Ages ago I made a post in this thread inviting competitors to email me their submission if they wanted it hosted on the YC server. As it happens, johannhowitzer, the winner, was the only person to do so. Interesting. Anyway, on remembering this, I edited into the original post a declaration of the winner plus a link to the recording. I hope this is OK and that I haven't violated competitional custom by doing so or anything, what with not being very involved this time around.

If any of the other five finalists want their submission hosted, by the way, don't hesitate to ask.
