Finale Downsaving

Does finale have the ability to downsave. So for example: I have finale 2007 and Bob has finale 2004...and i want to send him a .Mus file to show him how much better i am at composing than he is. So, does finale have the option to do this? (i dont actually know a bob)

Nope, this is one thing that Finale's never been very good about. If you to show Bob your piece, you've unfortunately got to get him to download the latest version of Notepad (free) - even though he's got the full Finale - in order to open your file.

Well yeah, that's obviously the easy answer, but I assumed you wanted him to actually be able to edit it as an MUS file. Another possible alternative is exporting your file as MusicXML, though I don't remember if 2004 had support for that or not.

*checks*

My Finale 2002 doesn't support it (MusicXML). How about .etf files? Enigma Transportable File - I don't know if my 2002 could open one saved in 2008, maybe I'll try sometime. Sibelius, conveniently, DOES support .etf files, so if you save in etf, I think both Finale and Sibby can read them. Not sure about version compatibility, though, but I would assume it isn't an issue. I'm just too lazy to find out for myself.

This is a note for Finale 2009 i guess. Would be nice.
Is there a forum anywhere requesting new things for finale 2009 (i know thats a while away but you know, people may already have complaints or requests about 2008 already)?

What about just sending a midi?

It is not the most ideal, but better than a PDF in some sense.

*note* Bob does not exist. And I am not actually Downsaving for anyone. I just wanted to know if it was possible
Thanks.
