[Finale] A good site

The Finale School

I do not know if anyone has recommended this site before, or if anyone even knows of it's existence. Anyway, it is simply a site that teaches one how to use Finale in a better and more effective manner

Oh - My - GAWD! This guy knows his stuff. Within 5 minutes, I learned several better ways to do things than I have been doing them. Better than Finale's own video tutor.

Thanks for posting this link!

I take that back: you have to pay for some of the tutorials.

Actually I kind of hated this guy's tutorials...I thought a lot of his info was wrong and he is not very good at speaking/showing things.

I really liked some of the stuff. But he seriously underappreciates simple entry! He talks as if you couldn't use any keyboard shortcuts, midi input etc. with simple entry, but just use the mouse to click.

I agree with both of you. Nearly every video started with "Okay..." and they say "Uhmm" far too much.
In regards to simple entry, I noticed something that he said in one of the 'speedy entry' vids "You can't press a simple button to 'tie' notes together, where as with Speedy Entry, you simply select the note and press =" or something liek that. Thats identical with simple entry, except (in my case) you press 'T' after selecting the note. He claims that you HAVE to select the tie tool and then click on the note you want to tie, and then deselect.

Yes, Im having a rather nasty go at small details, but if i were paying $6.50 - $29.00 for tutorial videos, I would EXPECT high quality, professional work including people to check over small errors like the one i just spotted (there were a few more as well). Its good for beginners, but thats about it.

Those are points well taken...I have to admit I thought his dialogue was a little impromptu. I appreciated what I did learn though, and I may pay to learn a little more. Maybe if enough people feel as I do, he'll make enough to improve his product.

In his defense, it's generally difficult to be a good public speaker and teach at the same time. I'll post one of my lectures lol.

I like the videos. He showed me some neat stuff I didn't know, so I'm thankful for that. Besides, his product isn't really that costly.
