Finale (A Tribute to 2007)

This is a little piece I wrote to vent my end of year feelings. Here's to 08!

Amazing melody and harmony, everything combines together perfectly. Sounds like something for a big budget Hollywood movie. The only criticism I have is the constant sound of strings, other than that it's a beautiful piece of music.

I agree. A great sounding piece of music that would accompany a good dramatic moment in a well-directed film. Strings do play constantly and cover up the melody a bit, but as a string player, I find that perfectly acceptable.

I liked it. Simple, enjoyable, but as has been pointed out, the strings do dominate slightly. It was a welcome release when the horns took over towards then end, but I feel you could've done more with them, or introduced more of the brass section, perhaps some loud triumphant chords to sum up the conclusion of the year. I also would've enjoyed some woodwind action, perhaps an oboe or flute doubling the melody at the start?

Nontheless, thoroughly enjoyable

It is absolutely the way I felt about 2007. It was exciting, depressing, motivating and beautiful all at the same time and I think from a personal prospective it really conveyed what some out there were feeling.
On a musical note, the strings I think covered up the melody a little, but for me personally, the piece would have become boring if they were too subtle. So, I did like the dominance of the strings. I found that it really shaped the contour of the phrases and directed the piece on a more emotional path which I'm assuming from your post is what you were aiming for?

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, this piece is really about all of my emotions and feelings from 2007, (I felt the strings brought out a heart wrenching sound.) Thank you so much for listening (I'm very glad you all enjoyed it!)
Happy new year!

Enjoyed the piece

I enjoyed your piece. I was wondering what software you used to render the recording? I currently use Sibelius 4 with Garritan Personal Orchestra.
