Fire burn, and caldron bubble

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble.

My incidental music for the classic scene of 3 witches stirring their evil brew.

A very expressive piece. Reminds me of the old progressive orchestration used in films, which fits the classic scene you are composing for. At the same time your atonal style derives it from that. Making it more original, but less classic. Don't pay attention to that though.
Nice work.

lol, back to your usual atonal style I see. I have to admit, some of your more atonal pieces can be a bit hard on my ears at times. And at times, this piece seems a bit too random. But you know, this really does fit perfectly with the sceen you desribed. There is both a sense of mischief and mysticism and it fits perfectly. By no means is this one of my favorite pieces from you, but it's a very interesting experiment and I did enjoy it.

Bob and Tyler

Thanks guys.

This was just a quick one to get that atonality out of me. If I do it all at once, it makes my other pieces more tonal. Odd way to go about composing I know, but it has worked in the past.

I have a ton of studying to do now (finals the next 2 weeks), and I always seem to do some of my best composing when I am supposed to be studying. Although it doesn't do well for my taking the tests.

Thanks again

Ron

This really tells the scene in itself! You can just imagine the witches slithering around the caldron, whispering their cursed spells, dropping their vile ingredients into the bubbling pit!

What did you use to make this? On multiple occasions I second-guessed myself, not sure if it was a recording or a playback from a composing program!

Thanks

I composed this in Sibelius 5 and then it goes thru the Kontakt Player 2 (Kp2) with all Garritan Personal Orchestra (GPO) instruments.

Wow, it sounds really good! I'm just a bit jealous! I use Sibelius 4 with Kontakt Gold, and wasn't sure if I should invest in Sibelius 5 or not... I still don't know. Anyway, I won't get into this here (it's off-topic ), so good job!

seems shakespear is the latest trend

I like this. are you using free atonality, or is there some serialism going on? I think it could stand to be a little more thin in a few parts- I think the sheer business of the peice detracts somewhat from the fear factor. The begining is pretty good in this respect.

I'm almost inspired to take my own crack at music for the same scene!
