New to music eh? Altogether? or just composing? Anyhow, this is really pretty good if it's your first attempt at writing a piece. You have some nice counterpoint. But I'm not really sure about how you end the piece... you go from F major to F# major. Most pieces in this style would probably use V-I instead. I don't know if anyone's going to stop you if you want to use whatever chords you like though. What style of music or instruments were you aiming at? A baroque guitar thing?? And is this piece meant to be played by 3 guitarists?

thanks for listening!
yes i am new to both. the ending is a little weird i know, but i have zero knowledge about theory, reading notes, i know a few chords but that's all :/
and yes, the piece is meant to be played by three guitarists!
how should I end the piece ? i'd like to introduce the first theme and conclude with a key that suits the piece the best

Start by finishing off each phrase with V-I, there are other ways as well, but this is the best suited, for you, so far.

V = means dominant
I = Tonic

Something you probably have already learned, never ever use parallel fifths or octaves in music like this. It sounds great, and I have already told you this. Its like a three part fugue except for the fact that most of the counterpoint rules aren't followed in this piece. Like I said before, good job.

Sure, the counterpoint may be off, but if you really have no knowledge of theory and this is your first piece, you should end up all right in the composing department.

I agree. The counterpoint is not strictly "by the book," but what impresses me is what a good grasp you have of it as a basic concept. Most novices don't begin with complex ideas like this. It shows me you have aptitude and probably some talent for the compositional process. [I'm assuming you know what counterpoint is - if you don't, I or someone here will explain it to you.]

There are all kinds of things one might suggest to you, but what course to take really depends upon what you want to express through composition. Learning theory is a good idea, though not all composers are convinced it helps them be the composer they want to be. I personally believe it provides a solid foundation upon which you can build and do anything you like.

Continuing to experiment is a good way to go in any case. You might want to try emulating the kind of music you enjoy listening to, and eventually your own voice will emerge as you become more comfortable and fluent.
