Folie à Deux

All right, I know I've posted this piece before, but I'm now creating an official thread for it. I just got Sibelius, so I decided to enter the score in it so it would look prettier. I know that there are still score issues, as I am not an engraving master at all, so I was hoping that I could have some helpful comments on what needs to be fixed (I can tell that Michel's licking his chops) (and I know that I need to change the pedaling marks. . . I don't actually play piano).

I also would like some comments on the actual music. I don't foresee myself changing this piece, but I would like some critiques to know exactly what people do and don't like.

And once again, the whole idea of this piece is that the first part uses only C, Db, E, F#, G, and A# (the enharmonic notes of the C and F# major triads), while the second part uses the remaining chromatic notes (D, Eb, F, G#, A, and B for the dull). The idea for this came simply from the Petrushka chord, and it just developed from there.

amazing! i'd never tell there's any restriction beyond this fabulous piece.

the whole thing is great, but specifically the main bass theme is absolutely adorable to me. congratulations!

it's really great how the rythm sounds broken and, as you say, "jumpy", though it's actually 4/4 or 3/4 or 6/8 most of the time.

Thanks. I aimed for the jumpiness through the use of disjunct intervals rather than actual rhythm.

Also, the use of "restriction," as you call it, can actually be quite inspiring. This is the only piece that I have written in such a way thus far, but I found it to actually be helpful.

Hey, you know I love this piece. The one thing that seems awkward in my opinion is the sudden dynamic shift to pianissimo. It comes out of nowhere, and almost seemed like a glitch with my speakers at first... could just be personal opinion speaking, but is there a way you could incorporate a decrescendo somewhere before that point, or is there a specific purpose for the way you wrote it?

I updated the file on my computer to use less extreme dynamics, but I have yet to upload it. My crappy technology makes uploading things much harder than it should be.

Great! The harmonic language is wholly coherent, but sounds original. I really enjoyed listening to this piece.
