Fuga in a

I wanted to do like Shostakovitch's prelude and fuga. Making a dissonant piece. I couldn't finish it due to lack of inspiration. I had so little ideas that there is a section in the piece where it doesn't sound at all like a fuga. It sounded more like Prokofiev's second piano concerto.

I love this - sounds great!

Is it meant to be played with strict tempo or more freely, as in the mp3?

It should be played as in the mp3, the midi is only a code to be implemented in Cubase with a piano sound library. I'm just too lazy to write crescendi, rit., accents and all.

I actually like this more than Shostakovich's fugue in A minor. It was really interesting, not sure if it's an actual fugue or not because of the answer at the octave. But a great piece nonetheless.

He wrote a fugue in every key XD He wrote a set of 24 preludes and fugues in the manner of Bach.

Oops! Didn't know that. The reason is: I followed the queen elisabeth competition and many pianists played this one fugue of Shostakovitch, apparently it is a very popular piece. I don't know which fugue but it's one very violent one. With many FF and sFz. Do you know what I'm talking about?

I know I taped it somewhere, I'm going to search it up. In the mean time you can guess which fugue I'm talking about.

I'm pretty sure Mariangela Vacatello played it and it could be one of these: Preludes & Fugues Op 87 No 2 in a minor & No15 in G Major Shostakovich
