garritan concert band/ marching band

I recently got this product. I never used any sound samples outside of what came with sib 5. The sounds are not what i expected ( as in not real enough for me). I actually prefer the crap that came with sib 5. Is there something that i am not doing to get the real texture of it?

yes, basically, the problem is, you're using it with Sibelius.

for the time being, Sibelius' playback is rather lacking.

maybe they will come out with an update that fixes this soon (I seem to remember reading something along the way about this).

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.

It's not Sibelius' fault. The sound samples with the band versions of Garritan have a lot to be desired. They don't have the true "Marching on the football field" feel to them. I don't like what I've heard of them.

well, so far, what I've played around with in Finale, they sound great. Lots of depth, lots of range. Generally very nice sounds. Add enough reverb to them and they work quite well.

By the way, the full samples that come with Sibelius 5 are the *exact same* brass samples.
Stand-alone samples tend not to work very well with Sibelius.

I went to the Garritan website and listened to the marching/concert band sample files. They sound like crap. Doesnt matter if you use Sibelius, Finale, or anything else.

Does anyone have any idea about where to get good marching band samples? Tapspace virtual drumline is great for percussion but what about brass and woodwinds? Anyone have anything better than Garritan?

THanks
