Gentle Giant fans in here?

I was just wondering if anyone here had heard of the band Gentle Giant which formed during the 70's and sadly disbanded in the 80's?

I would recommend them just for the complexity of their music and the use of many different musical devices from jazz, rock and early music. They use a great deal of counterpoint but essentially, besides this, their music remains really fun and enjoyable, although it is an acquired taste and does take a lot to get into. I think their music should be studied and looked at in a more academic way as there is so much to say about their music.

Anyone heard their stuff?

Gentle Giant is one of my favourite bands, if not my favourite rock band ever. They're simply amazing. How they weave every instrument and the singing together is very complex and very well done. They are hard to explain in words really, cause they're so different from everything else. I also recommend that you who haven't heard their stuff listen to them. This is progressive rock at it's finest IMHO

I got Free Hand yesterday, a truly amazing album. I think my favourite has to be the opening track. Its hard not to feel happy when you crank that up nice and loud!
