[attachmentid=1408] I'm BACK and I'm MEAN....er, well no, actually I'm quite mild mannered.

My son wrote a piano piece based on a great repeating figure. As I lifted him down from the piano stool and reached for the PAMPERS, I wiped away a tear from my strangely youthful cheeks and reflected on how much TALENT God had bestowed on one family......................

But I have a rare condition diagnosed as PHIL SPECTOR at the FEAST syndrome. I just wouldn't let it lie, and it is now clumsily orchestrated to within an inch of it's life.

And all of this inspired by the terrifying truth that round the back of a mountain chalet on a saturday night you will always find it hard to get a coherent sentence out of GOATS ON ACID..............................

Some of the notes making up the melodies don't seem to have been as well thought out as they could have been. Sometimes it sounds like you almost picked random notes. An example would be the 2nd half of bar 10. I thought I heard more the first time round but the second time I'm liking it more. Perhaps it simply requires repeat listens.

By the way, have you ever considered writing music for video games? Your style is ideal.

Well spotted !
I have in fact been involved in the music for several top-selling games.
Initially it is hard to tell if you will make money because of the unpredictability of royalties and the complex bonus schemes. However, so far this year I have managed to gross nearly £78,000 from this lucrative business and there is one more cheque due before the end of December.
Last year a little better, £ 109,000, and 2003 was a high spot - £188,500.
I have had to employ an accountant ”“ how cool is that !
I always used to sneer at people in those expensive four-wheel drive thingies, but now I have two of them ! The second one only gets used in France though, because no other kind of vehicle can cope with the vineyard in all weathers.

I imagine this is only a fraction of what real composers ( many of whom apparently use this site ) are earning, but I continue to dream - especially when I’m in the pool !
If you need to borrow a few quid any time, just ask.

PS. Those Goats on Acid could certainly teach us all a thing or two about giggling uncontrollably.......

Oh, Mikey, Mikey, Mikey”¦”¦”¦”¦”¦

The ramblings that you see above, and indeed every other post of mine, are an example of what we jazz folk call IMPROVISATION.
The mood was set by your previous post. We approached the 64 bar passage allocated to me. I had no idea what notes I was going to play next - but they came anyway, in an ecstatic torrent perfectly tailored to the piece in melody, rhythm and timbre.
It is the most serious business I know !!!!!

However, I didn’t know you had real financial problems or I would never have made a joke about lending money”¦”¦”¦the social equivalent of an inappropriate flattened fifth !!

Hehe, nice of you to use the "w00t" emoticon I added earlier

And my financial situation is quite in order, I can guarantee you that.

P.S. What's the deal with people calling me "mikey mikey mikey"? It annoys me enough in real life, online it's just a slap in the face

I'm afraid it's a catchphrase from a BBC sitcom called "My Family" (not on at the moment).
I think the father uses it when being patronising to his teenage son Michael.
But as a phrase it has an irresistible sense of swing.
