Post St. Moritz - BOLERO

Hi all young composers, and old who are young at heart!

Here are two of my favorite compositions. The one called ST.MORITZ is the name of a village in Switzerland. I lived there, high up in the mountains ... like Gustav Mahler, lol! It was in the year 1972, before I moved to Greenland with my father.

Bavarian Beer has been updated with new orchestration and is now called St. Moritz.

2nd mov - Bolero is a 3/4 dance that originated in Spain in the late 18th century, a combination of the contradanza and the sevillana.

BOLERO PART ONE - - with bassoon solo

PART TWO - BOLERO - with english horn solo and piccola flute solo[[/url][/b]

Not what I thought a drinking song would be; maybe the stumbling, ranting, and self-doubting walk back home -> part?

A very memorable melody and beautifully chromatic.

Wonderful

Michael

actually very pretty music.

beer in Bavaria, eh?

the image that came to mind was AFTER too many Beers in Bavaria, out on the sidewalk, picking up your clothes that your wife is tossing out of the 2nd story window, while you try to explain "but honey! it was with guys from work!"...

some of the harmony reminded me of somethng I wrote a long time ago for a film.

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.

Hi Michel,

Bavarian beer is so good that anything can happen, it seems.
This is an old melody of mine from the 70s, that I have picked up again.

Thanks for lending an ear.

Hi Michael,

Found a fun Bavarian beer song!

Glad you liked my tune. I had fun while modulating through various keys

I enjoyed this piece very much. I liked the exchange of the melody and the color that the strings in the background produced while they weren't playing the melody.

However, I must say that I was a little disappointed - I was expecting it to shift dramatically to some fun, upbeat polka or waltz and it just didn't happen . I'd like to think that if I were enjoying a beer in Bavaria, It would soothe my troubles and I'd be up and dancing on the table tops

Cool Something to cheer you up with...

Hi Biddy,

For me, the beer itself is soothing enough!

But here is something to cheer you up with, click here

Right now, I'm drinking a fantastic glass of draft beer called "SINGHA", here in Bangkok!
The Thai people surely brew good beer too!

Hi again Biddy,

The same melody that you have heared was also used in this composition.

So! Feel free to dance on a table, it's not the Bavarian feeling, but more like a Caribbean feeling...lol!

Regards,

Fred
