Hello

I have this really good synth keyboard, a PSR 550, with hundreds of awesome sounds. It doesn't say so in the manual, but does anybody know I can transfer sounds from a keyboard onto a computer so I can make audio recordings so I can put it on a cd?

If the keyboard has a 'line-out' you just need an adapter lead to connect it to the line-in or just 'in' on your computer then use Audacity or something to record it. Do a trial run to check the levels. Best to have the output vol of the kb fairly low so you don't get distortion through exceeding the input maximum of your pc. Turn it up on audacity.

With Audacity, the File drop down has "Export as wav". You can also select part of the recording to export.

As for the adapter, I don't know what the relevant connectors are. My laptop has a 3.5mm stereo jack in. I've used it with a hi-fi tape deck that has a pair of phono sockets. YOu can get adapters for the various combinations, or make one. Worst was someone's old casio that had two mono 1/4" jacks out. A pain.
